Is biomass right for you?

The suitability of biomass technology for your property depends on some key factors:

  • What are you paying for your current heating energy, such as gas, heating oil, electricity? The more you pay the more money your biomass system will save.
  • The availability of a local supply of high quality, cost-effective biomass wood fuel is important, along with access and a suitable covered space to store it. Remember that a year’s supply of wood fuel can be 6 tonnes or more – enough to fill a single garage.
  • What’s your budget? Domestic scale biomass systems cost from as little as £1,500 for a small log stove up to £10,000 or more for a large automatically fed pellet boiler. Larger systems for bigger properties will cost more.
