Is a heat pump right for you?

The suitability of heat pump technology for your property depends on some key factors:

  • How much outside space do you have at your location? Ground source heat exchangers can require significant ground work
  • Ease of access. If borehole drilling is required, then equipment needs access to the selected ground area. If access is restricted, then an air source option may be possible.
  • What are you paying for your current heating energy, such as gas, heating oil, or electricity? The more you pay the more money your heat pump system will save.
  • What's your budget? Domestic scale heat pump systems cost from around &poound;4, 000-&poound;5,000 for a typical air-source heat pump up to &poound;10,000 or more for a trench or borehole ground source heat pump installation. Larger systems for bigger properties will cost more.
