Hydropower Grants for your Property

Grants for approved hydropower systems are available from the Government's Low Carbon Buildings Programme. Funding levels are as follows...

Application Grant (whichever is lower)
Small domestic Maximum of £2,500 or 30% of eligible costs
Large community No grants available

Grants can be higher in Northern Ireland or Scotland.

Grant funding is applicable only for approved hydro turbines installed by an accredited contractor.

Occasionally, grants are available from regional sources. For example, the Yorkshire regional development agency (Yorkshire Forward) recently made grant funding available for six community hydro installations.
